There are many many historical buildings maintained in the world, whose construction, namely exterior wall, is made of solid masonry. These constructions have excellent thermal inertia, but also a range of humidity and thermo-technical problems. Finding a solution for these problems is a siginficant task, since most of the inner plaster is decorated with paintings, which are a cultural heritage. This paper deals with the solution to selected construction problems and their two dimensional simulation of the thermal field in AREA software[1].The article deals with the solution of some possible details that may occur during the reconstruction of the monument. The designer in the field of thermal engineering eliminates the risk of surface condensation of water vapor in hazardous areas of building structures, such as corners of the masonry or the connection of horizontal and vertical structures.Historical buildings are an integral part of a country's cultural heritage. Taking care of the heritage is a duty toward all future generations. An interdisciplinary cooperation of specialists and engineers is pivotal during repairs and reconstructions. The presented examples demonstrate using the 2D temperature fields the need for construction physics input into the project. Further work aims to focus on closer cooperation with specialist construction companies and institutions for monument care.
