Mortars and colored concrete are used in construction for the execution of masonry blocks, tiles and other building elements and materials that complement the aesthetic appearance of buildings, contributing to their architectural finishing. Pigments are usually used for coloring of the mortars and concretes based on cement mineral. The organic pigments are used in a more limited extend for this purpose. The life time of the facades realized with silicate cement largely depends on the compatibility between pigment and hydration compounds from the cement stone and the durability of the coloring product, as well. To obtain colored mortars in the study were used organic dyes soluble and insoluble in water and reactive dyes, added originally to the mortar made on the basis of white cement. Depending on the amount of pigment or dye added to cement were obtained shades of different colors. The conducted studies followed the realizing of some optimal mixtures with a minim pigment consume and the behavior in time of the obtained materials. In order to obtain colored mortars, the optimum amount of organic colorant to be added to the mortar based on Portland cement - barite- natural sand is 0.2% reported to the cement.
