The present paper analyzes - from the point of view of the energy consumption - a residential building in Romania, of usual construction, in order to fit it into the energy certification grid for heating [1]. The study was conducted for 8 thermal insulation variants with a thickness between 5 and 40 cm, each in 3 ventilation cases, in a total of 24 cases [2]. In order to determine the energy performance of the building, the CIMPSPAT expert calculation program was used [9], with the high-precision numerical method of the thermal balance written in the nodes of the computing network in accordance with SR EN ISO 10211: 2008 stipulations [8]. The results for all 24 situations were given in numerical form, the values obtained being compared with the limits of the energy certification grid for heating. Also, for a better interpretation of the obtained results, the following were graphically represented: the distribution of heat losses through the elements of the building envelope, the variation of the annual heat demand for heating, the variation of the annual energy requirement, and the variation of the consumption index. For one of the thermal insulation variants, the isothermal surfaces were presented in several characteristic sections of the buildings.
