Chromium spinel is identified as macrocrystals and rock-forming mineral of groundmass in kimberlites, composing the Manchary and the Aprelskaya pipes of the Khompu-May kimberlite field (Central Yakutia). Spinel assemblage of every pipe is individual. Chromospinellides of mesostasis of the Manbchary pipe crystallized in two stages. At the first stage, groundmass spinel crystallized until phlogopite was formed, at the second stage ? at the same time with mica, removing aluminum and magnesium form the melt. Kimberlite groundmass chromium spinel of the Aprelskaya pipe is characterized by high contents of aluminum oxide, and most likely crystallized before formation of mesostasis phlogopite. Study of chromospinellide macrocrystals allowed identifying two trends of evolution of the mineral ? iron-titanian trend for spinel from the Manchary pipe and kimberlite trend for chromospinellide from the Aprelskaya pipe. Difference between macrocrystals and microcrystals of chromospinellide is clearly expressed by the example of the Aprelskaya pipe ? with the same content of chrome oxide (Cr2O3 from 30 to 40 %), groundmass chromium spinel has higher titanium content (TiO2 from 4.45 to 8.2 %) in comparison with macrocrystals of chromospinellide (TiO2 from 0 to 5.72 %).
