A complex geological history and several stages of graphite mineralization are characteristic for the perspective Ihal? deposit. Primary carbonaceous matter is associated with early Proterozoic sedimentary complexes. Polychronic metamorphism, intrusive magmatism (microcline and plagioclase granites), migmatization of rocks, and contact metasomatism (scarns) have influenced the current appearance of the ore strata. Graphite is represented mainly in flaky crystalline forms in mineral intergrowths with biotite, pyrrhotite, and chlorite. Technological studies show that ore deposits are easily enriched by the flotation scheme. The concentrate meets the requirements of state standards for graphite crucible and elemental graphite and ensures the production of foundry graphite. The paper presents new data on the geology and petrography of ore-bearing complexes and the sequence of ore-controlling events. It is established that anatexis and metasomatic changes are an important factor localizing ore mineralization.
