The inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) is recognized as a robust method for the determination of different elements in liquid and solid samples. However, for metals determinations from solid samples, digestion is required in order to dissolve the analytes into liquid solution. It was the aim of this paper to validate the ICP-OES method for determination of metals from zeolite samples after acid digestion. The suitability of three digestion procedures using wet digestion with mineral acids mixtures on hot plate and in microwave oven was investigated to determine Na, K, Ca, Mg, Al, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in zeolite samples. The first digestion procedure was based on aqua regia (HCl-HNO3) extraction on hot plate; the second digestion procedure was based on aqua regia (HCl-HNO3) extraction in microwave oven, while the third digestion procedure was based on mixture of HCl-HNO3-HF in microwave oven. The LOQ of the analyzed elements in solid samples varied between 2.0 ?g g-1 for Cd, and 8.5 ?g g-1 for K. The method provided calibration coefficients better than 0.999 for all analyzed elements. The found values for metals determined by ICP-OES in feldspar certified reference material BCS-CRM No. 376/1, digested using the three procedures, were compared with the certified values and good agreements between these values were obtained. The proposed method indicated satisfactory recovery, quantification limits and standard deviations for metal determination in zeolite samples.
