The regular mode of the 3rd kind (method of periodic heating) is one of the effective ways to measure a complex of thermal characteristics (thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity) of gases and liquids (see, for example, the works of L.P. Filippov and S.N. Kravchun). Currently, this method has become widely used to study the thermal properties of solids. In our works, schemes of the process of heat transfer in the system of three contacting bodies ? the sample under study and two semi-limited (their length must be much larger than the depth of penetration of temperature perturbations) of the reference bodies ? are described.
The article proposes a new scheme of the method, when a sample of a cylindrical material under investigation, placed between two semi-bounded bodies with known and equal thermal properties (standards), is divided into two equal parts (plates), and the periodic heating is set at the junction of these parts of the sample. The lateral surface of the system of cylindrical bodies is thermally insulated and the process of heat propagation along one spatial variable is realized in it. The proposed scheme significantly simplifies known mathematical models and allows one to obtain simpler expressions for processing experimental data. A new rather simple algorithm for solving the inverse problem was constructed: determination of the thermal properties of the sample under study from temperature measurements in the reference body. The application of the proposed scheme will allow to conduct studies of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, heat capacity of materials and to combine these measurements with various physical effects on the sample under study, in particular with acoustic ones, when the standards can play the role of waveguides. |
