Stability analysis of underground excavations, such as tunnels, the most important parameters in the design of these structures. Because long-life underground structures should be according to their use. On the other hand, the amount and quality of tunnel excavation are depending on various parameters including geology risks and different type of rocks. So, for the optimal stability, mechanical behavior of the rock mass should be known. The current essay considers the showing stability and designed of Dezh-mandeh ancient tunnel by numerical analysis and experimental methods. Geological and geotechnical data used is selected based on observations and laboratory measurements. Using an experimental approach based on equal dimension the tunnel was proposed for the permanent storage system. Concepts such as complex geometries, anisotropy, and non-linear behavior are problematic in analyses. Numerical modeling has the capability of simulating fractures and cracks in the rock mass and modeling the tensions of tunnel walls properly. Dezh-mandeh ancient tunnel is located in Kho'in Village of Zanjan Province in the geographical coordinates of 36,35,51 and 48,11,28, that its approximate depth is 40 meters covering an area of nearly 4000 square meters. In this paper, factors influencing the walls and the floor of Dezh-mandeh ancient tunnel will be examined and finally, according to the data obtained using numerical modeling. The results of the application UDEC expresses the minimum shear strain around the tunnel area under study.
