The aim of this work is to study the erosion and stability of rock cliffs. The selected sites are located in the Cuio and Kalohanda areas from the southern sector of the Baia-Farta municipality, on the coast of the Province of Benguela, central-western Angola. The fourteen studied sites are situated nearby fishing villages and present two distinct climate seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The studied area presents a huge potential for economic activity related with tourism. The rock cliffs are mainly constituted by carbonated formations of marine origin, composed by carbonated and marly rocks, the designated Quissonde and Catumbela Formations of Albanian age (Lower Cretaceous). Two assessment procedures were established: a procedure to assess rock cliff stability and another related to coastal erosion susceptibility. Rockfalls were registered in all stations and flows were verified in 92.3% of the stations; toppling failures occurred in 27.3% of the stations. Costal abrasion was observed in 78.6% of the fourteen stations. Cliff erosion susceptibility was defined as low, medium and high in 21.4%, 50.0% and 28.6% of the studied stations, respectively.
