The comprehensive description of ground motions induced by seismic and paraseismic phenomena requires collecting data of six components of seismic wave. Three of them, so-called translational waves, comprise two horizontal and one vertical ground motions. These types of ground movements have been well identified and investigated. Unfortunately, until recently, the remaining three components named as rotational waves were generally estimated with the use of indirect methods based on recorded translational ground motions. It was caused mostly due to the lack of appropriate instruments which could be able to record the rotational seismic waves. Thus, rotational as well as rocking motions have not been fully recognized so far. Recently, a few types of advanced instruments for direct measurements of such movements were developed. Based on measurements of strong ground motions it has been found, that amplitude of the rotational components in close distances from the seismic event?s source can be significantly larger than one could expect. Besides that, there is still a lack of exhausting analyses concerning characteristic of rotational seismic waves generated by mining induced seismic events. In this paper, the results of preliminary measurements of rotational motions generated by induced seismic waves were presented. Ground movements related to mining tremors were analysed in terms of amplitude, frequency and relative power of the seismic signal.
