Taking into account that nowadays the websites lacking at least one dynamic component or side is rare (ea. the contact form) the focus of the current paper is granted to the programming environments and the scripting languages used for producing and running dynamic websites. Among the most popular scripting languages the PHP outstands its competitors ASP.NET, Java, CFML or Python.
Within this framework, with the aim of separating the content from the presentation of a website content selected aspects linked to the use of PHP language are used for dynamic content creation of websites. The aspect of separation of the content from its presentation has similar advantages with other separation types including HTML or CSS, namely: easier maintenance, a clearer, cleaner and better organised environment etc. This easiness results in editing and testing the styles independently of the respective web page while if templates are to be changed the easiness is even higher practically altering only the file containing the definitions with minimal interventions in the PHP or HTML code. Another important advantage regards the visual consistency of the website so that similar elements form the same page of from different pages will present an identic aspect without the need for intervention of the user over the source code. Last but not least it is fully worth mentioning that the loading speed of such a page in a browser increases significantly. The paper will also treat the templating part, variables and areas, administration forms, connexion to data and a brief overview on the transformation from HTML to PHP. |
