The purpose of this study is to identify relationships between the values of the fluidity obtained by computer simulation and by practically implemented tests. Three types of molds were used: 1. horizontal three-channel mold designed in the accordance with the methodology of the Measurement Systems Analysis which is useful for determining repeatability and reproducibility in the analysis, 2. vertical mold ? the lyre and 3. the spiral mold (Curry spiral). An aluminum - silicon - copper alloy was model material. The factor affecting the fluidity was the temperature of the molten alloy ranged between 650°C and 780°C. All practical tests were carried out by the same founder. Simulations were performed using the software NovaFlow&Solid. The results obtained by the simulation and by the practical tests were compared by paired t-test and by correlation analysis. The statistically significant difference between the value of the fluidity obtained by experiment and by simulation was not found. The analysis of the fluidity was completed by evaluating the influence of pouring temperature on the microstructure, hardness and notch toughness.
