The stability of underground works has always occupied an important place in engineering. Their stability depends on how the design and execution of the underground works are done. The instability of underground works, in most cases, also has consequences on the surface because it can affect land and constructions. In the case of salt?s operation with rooms and pillars, the stability of the underground space depends on how the rooms and pillars were dimensioned. But besides designing the geometry of the underground works, a very important factor for stability is also the way of achievement of the designed works. The transposition of the project into the underground space is done by topographic staking, and directional or slope errors occur in the digging process. Any topographic staking is affected by errors that may lead to deviations from the coaxiality of the supporting pillars from one floor to the other or to the thinning of the floors. This paper approaches the way to evaluate the topographic lay-out errors, how these errors propagate, how can be estimated the deviation from the coaxiality of the pillars, deviation from the thickness of the floors and how the influence of these errors can be diminished.
