This article justifies the importance of using geo-information technologies for the analysis of the core-periphery dependencies at the regional level. A conceptual analysis of scientific studies on the centre-peripheral structures of regional economies is carried out. It is shown that under the influence of the factors of globalisation, Russian regions are becoming economically fragmented, are demonstrating a deepening of peripherality. At the same time, the preparation of proposals for regional social and economic development is made without a proper analysis of the core-periphery dependencies, the impact of agglomeration. An example of geo-visualisation of the centre-peripheral structure of the Rostov region, made by geographic information system and mapping, was presented. Geo-visualisation allowed to determine not only the agglomeration centre, but also agglomerations of the 2nd order, which form a unique Rostov-Shakhty urban conurbation. The construction of such characteristics in the spatial aspect through the use of geo-information technologies has improved the political and economic measures to create conditions for the optimal socio-economic development of territories. In general, the analysis of the effects of agglomeration allows us to achieve a higher level of regional economic governance and to eliminate infrastructural constraints for their development. An institutional and legal analysis was also conducted and the action plan was created for the implementation of geographic information system technologies for regional administrations. The advantages of using geographic information systems for the analysis of taxonomic levels of a regional economy are shown.
