Moldavian Plain is a region in Romania, with a high number and a great variety of
historical monuments. At the same time, is a regi on who suffered strong transformations in the post post-communist period from all points of view. The present paper aims to e valuate the effects of socio socio- economic and political change changes on heritage sites conservation and to combine these results with the natur al risk assessments in order to obtain a map of Heritage sites at risk in Moldavian Plain. We want to focus on religious monuments that are at high risk, trying to integrate natural risk factors like landslides and flooding zones with social risk factors. ? Heritage at Risk 2000 report? by ICOMOS considered that the major treats identified were: maintenance deficiency, lack of financial and human resources; economic and social changes, particularly changing State responsibilities and unsettled ownerships; insufficient conservation standards; tourism tourism-related issues. The region is characterized by high migration values, popula tion ageing, change in beliefs, losing the traditional architectural values, imposed modernization, presence of touristic activities et c. so we can say that the heritage is at risk. The intensity of this phenomenon differs from village to village, so we tr ied to emphasize the vulnerable areas as a decision support for the Romanian authorities. |
