The construction of bridges over watercourses is a practice that is vitally important to provide communication links between population areas. It is significant to understand the hydraulics, hydrology and geomorphology of the watercourse, and how these factors will affect and be affected by the bridge structure in order to ensure the safety and efficient design of these water crossings. The village of L'Ile-Bouchard is located in the center of France. Increasing of traffic is one of the most serious problems in village. In order to solve the traffic problems, mainly related to the heavy trucks that borrow RD760 road, the municipality has decided to study the feasibility of a deviation. Thus, this study was carried out with the aim to evaluate the hydraulic impact of a future urban development from the flood inundation perspective. To determine the effect of hydraulic structure presence in the waterway two scenario were carried out: one scenario without the bridge and the second one with the bridge. The simulations of the flood in the Vienne River were conducted using a 1D-2D linked flow model in order to assess this effect on flood capacity, water level and flood scale. The result shows that the inundation condition will be changed after construction of the new bridge, increasing the inundation velocity and inundation area, especially in the area around the bridge. InfoWorks ICM software was used for analysis and develops the flood map. Thus, the generated flood map could serve important information to related agency in proposing a suitable design the mitigation works for this area.
