It takes adequate IT tools to implement and perform information processes in an organisation. Such tools can be developed by means of popular and frequently used programs, such as spreadsheets. The tools created in spreadsheets may be consistent with the author?s signature concept of Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model (MiRel). This concept delivers specific solutions intended for representation of identified entities and ensures integrity of both data and the assumed reports and collations assumed to be generated. These solutions are based on application of a relatively small number of spreadsheet features and components, without being forced to create code in any programming language. In accordance with the concept in question, the entities previously identified may be represented in one of two ways. Type I is based on an assumption that an entity is represented as a table, as in a traditional relational database. Type II representation assumes that values of primary keys and names of attributes that do not belong to the key are headers of columns and rows, the intersections of which contain corresponding values of attributes not belonging to the key. Type I is considered more convenient with regard to generation of certain reports, and therefore the solutions proposed under the MiRel concept enable transition from type II to type I of entity representation. Two solutions to this problem, previously described in the literature of the subject, have been discussed in the article. It also presents a new and improved mechanism of data transition between type II and type I. All the solutions discussed in the paper have been analysed and compared.
