The article presents the methods of modeling two-phase flows. The widespread application of issues related to two-phase flows in industry encourages to familiarize with the methods of modeling this type of flows. The article presents basic mathematical models of two-phase liquid-solid flow on the example of sedimentation. In addition, numerical methods for simulating the sedimentation process are presented.
Paper presents the possibility of using the Boltzmann method, the so-called Lattice-Boltzmann methods in modeling multiphase systems. The LBM method is used primarily for modeling fluid dynamics, as an alternative to models based on the Navier-Stokes equation. A comparison of Euler-Euler method and Boltzmann method and the application of these methods to numerical modeling of two-phase flows is discussed Attention was paid to the advantages of the presented method and the great possibilities of accelerating calculations by their parallelization on modern graphic processors (GPU's). Experimental investigations of the sedimentation process in flow conditions were carried out and the theoretical parameters of the sedimentation efficiency were verified depending on the surface load (based on the experimental results). |
