In this paper we focused on the analysis and evaluate of 40 well water samples, obtained in 2018 from the house wells in the village of Malinec (Slovakia). The village is situated in the Poltar district in the South Slovakia. The well water is used as drinking or sanitary water. The object of the research is to gain the complex values of the chemical quality and to compare the well water results with the results of water produced in the local water-work. The research showed that the quality of the well water in the village Malinec (Slovakia) is not adequate, according to the legislative limits of the drinking water. Collected water samples were analyzed by the Flame atomic absorption spectrometry and Atomic absorption spectrophotometry with graphite furnace. Nitrates determinations were performed by spectrophotometry, chemical oxygen demand - COD by manganometry and chlorides by argentometry. The water has indicated increased values of chemical elements, specifically NO3-, chemical oxygen demand - COD, Mn, Ca and Mg. The toxic element Cd was not contained in the water. The rest of the chemical indicators, such as Cl and Pb were tolerable. Sanitary water contained higher levels of observed indicators, when compared to drinking water. Regarding the qualitative values of the treated water from the local water-work, sampled during the spring and summer in 2018, Ca and Mg were under the recommended tolerance. According to this qualitative analysis, house well water contains higher level of chemical elements, such as NO3-, Cl?, Ca, Mg, and Pb, compared to the treated water from the local water-work.
