The security of technical infrastructure in crisis situations can be divided into several areas that can affect its functions. The aim of this work was to focus on water infrastructure with regard to legal aspects set in the Czech Republic. Water is essential for economic growth, human health, and the environment. The main reason for the emergence of the crisis situation in parts of the water infrastructure is predominantly presence of a large amount of water (torrential rain, lightning flood, flood, increased water consumption during fire etc.). In most cases, damaging the technical infrastructure means damaging the possibility of drinking water supplies to consumers. One of the main reasons is that our resources are not boundless and there is no gradual increase in the protection of water resources, either surface or underground, since, for example, in Central Europe, the underground watercourses are below the 60% water moisture index, also considering that Europe is part of three watersheds. EU countries are, on average, abstracting around 21% of their renewable freshwater resources each year which is regarded as a sustainable position. However, significant water loss occurs in southern countries, where around 18% of the resource is lost each year in irrigation. One of the possible indicators of the issue of not solving the protection of technical infrastructure can be derived from water stress. The cumulative stress for the period under review is on average below 50% of the relative soil saturation in the profile 0-100cm.
