Environmental pollution by manganese is a significant problem for the Imereti region. The source of pollution is derived from manganese extraction quarry and ore processing plant. The purpose of the study was to investigate the concentration of manganese and other heavy metals in the soil, air and water. Samples were taken from the industrial area, and the chemical elements were identified in them using ICP-MS. The results showed that the concentration of manganese and some other metals exceed to the permissible limits as in soil and air as in water. It should be noted that, the manganese ore processing plant is more harmful for the environment than the open-pit mine, this is due to obsolete techniques and methodology used for ore processing promotes to release harmful substances in the air. Through the precipitation harmful particles are absorbed in the soil and cause pollution. Industrial water flows into the Kvirila River and contaminates it. This is confirmed by the fact that, after the river passing through the ferroalloy plant, the concentration of harmful substances in the river are higher than in the sample taken before the factory.
