The article devotes to experimental study of briquetting of woodworking waste, such as sawdust and shredded bark. The aim of the work is to obtain regression dependencies linking characteristics of briquetted raw materials and parameters of moulding process with properties of produced fuel briquettes. Controlled factors of the experiment include moisture content of the raw material; average particle size of the material; percentage of sawdust and bark in the material; moulding pressure; moulding speed. The target functions include density of the fuel briquettes and briquettes? mechanical durability. The study uses hydraulic briquetting press RUF600 as an experimental plant. The press is equipped with electronic measuring tools, recording the moulding pressure and speed of the rod. The full factorial experiment uses second-order Box-Behnken design; in total, the design includes 46 runs with various combinations of the factors. The study obtains second-order regression dependences, establishing relationships between the moisture content, the average particle size, the percentage ratio of sawdust and bark, the moulding pressure and the rod speed with produces fuel briquettes density and their mechanical durability. On the basis of the data obtained, the study formulates recommendations for increasing briquetting process performance. The conclusion highlights prospective fields for further research.
