The spectrum of energy resource depletion in the coming years has been a serious alarm signal and has led to the identification of the possibilities for substitution of depleting resources, the reduction of environmental imbalances caused by the exploitation, processing and utilization of the resources used up to now. This alarm signal has led mankind to operate with a new concept, the energy security concept. For most specialists, energy security means producing the necessary energy in their own country and reduced import dependence. The use of renewable energy sources, their introduction into energy supply systems, is now an essential element of Romanian energy strategies, their future being conditioned by several factors. The technical possibilities of saving energy are limited, which have already been largely exploited by technical-technological developments in the past decades, requiring the research of new alternative sources. Our country has an important potential for renewable resources: hydroelectric power, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass. This article aims to highlight the dynamics of energy biomass sources, addressing wider issues of energy issues at national, continental and global level, biomass formation and productivity of different ecosystems through the use of specific IT applications.
