This paper presents an analysis of available statistical data on changes in the area of renewable energy sources in the European Union (EU). The analysis of the results takes into account, e.g. the share of renewable energy in final gross energy consumption and the share of renewable energy in gross power consumption. The analyzed source data relate to EU member states. The presented statistical data are based on data prepared in accordance with the accounting rules set in Directive 2009/28/EC regarding the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and calculated on the basis of energy statistics covered in Regulation (EC) No. 1099/2008 on energy statistics, Regulation (EU) No. 2017/2010 last revised in November 2017.
