One of the promising areas of rational use of wood and wood waste is their processing using pyrolysis technology, in which solid biomass can be converted into liquid useful products. Pyrolysis liquid products in the form of raw bio-oils or charcoal suspensions have several advantages over solid ones: high energy density, composition stability during storage, ease of use and transportation.
The article investigates the effect of preliminary heat treatment of ground aspen wood on the mass yield of products, obtained during fast pyrolysis. It has been determined that pre-heat treatment caused an increase in carbon content and a decrease in hydrogen and oxygen, and also leaded to a decrease in the concentration of water in bio-oil. The nitrogen content remains unchanged. At the same time a significant increase in the treatment temperature does not have a significant effect on the quality characteristics of bio-oil.
The results indicate the feasibility of further technical and economic assessment of a rational level of temperatures in the process of preliminary heat treatment of raw wood.
