The discharge with a liquid cathode between the electrode and the surface of the liquid is a promising object of study, both in terms of the applicability of such discharges in plasma-chemical technologies, and in terms of green synthesis and lack of knowledge of mechanisms of plasma-chemical interactions with the organic substances.
The characteristic of plasma was measured with the methods of emission spectroscopy. Electrical parameters of the discharge were also measured. The plasma-chemical synthesis carried out the laboratory plasma-chemical reactor of treatment of liquids. Model aliphatic alcohols solutions in deionized water were used as a liquid cathode. The discharge occurred at atmospheric pressure in the air. The conversion of organic substances was conducted in the range of currents 12-100 mA.
Deciphering the emission spectra of the discharge with a liquid cathode showed the presence of OH?radical emission bands and molecular nitrogen N2, as well as lines of atomic hydrogen H and oxygen O.
As a result of the conversion of organic substances, the mechanism for the interaction of electric discharge with organic substances was proposed.
