In this paper we have analysed the existing methods of pest and disease field control on the basis of solar powered equipment and apparatus. The necessity of the presented research came from the considered problem of crop losses and reduction of product quality. We have highlighted the advantages of using the electrophysical method for monitoring the number and type of insect pests. The novel construction of the light trap is a three-ring, three-slot and single-slit for monitoring the number and species of insects, patented in RU85799, RU97245. Single-slit light trap had revealed as the most effective in the field operation so far. We discussed a methodology of the design and development of technical and technological parameters of solar-powered energy-saving electro-optical converter on the base of single-slit light trap. We have also presented the comprehensive analysis of the single-slit light trap structure and analytic methods of calculating the main geometrical parameters including the space volume of light flux propagation.
