Study aims to detect the hazardous elements in the ambient air at inside university environment. Air pollution was evaluated using moss and lichen bag technique. One lichen (Hypogymnia physodes) and one moss (Dicrannum scoparium) taxa were used for research purposes. Research was conducted in four room types (laboratory, hall, office and pc rooms) and two different moisture treatments (without intervention, regularly moistened) were conducted. Relative accumulation factor (RAF) was used in order to assess each risk element content in exposed moss and lichen taxa. Based the relative accumulation factor values ambient air at the university area is polluted by individual elements in following order: Ni>Cu>Zn>As>Cr>Cd>Mn>Al>Pb. The highest values of Pb and Zn were determined in PC rooms, other evaluated elements reached the highest values at the laboratories. One-way ANOVA test was used to detect significant differences in hazardous element content between room types, taxa and between different moisture treatments. Moisture have no influence on the moss and lichen accumulation abilities. Mosses showed significantly higher ability to accumulate Al, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb and Zn, lichens were significantly better in Cd and Mn accumulation. The differences were found also between room types. Significantly higher values of Cu, Fe, and Pb were found in the laboratories comparing halls. And significantly higher values of Cr and As were determined in laboratories comparing offices.
