The article touches the problem of simulation of discrete systems, discusses the law of probability distribution, considers the probability of the distribution of the time interval between packets in computer networks. To create a model that takes into account the characteristics of traffic in a real system, the law of distribution of random variables is used. To obtain results close to the real system (minimum distortion is a goal), it is necessary that the initial data are comparable to the real ones, during the process of tuning the model, which is quite difficult, especially when it depends on parameters that are random variables. The obtained coefficient of propagation makes it possible to create an imitation model with a minimum of error. Five types of packages were declared and each has its own distribution law and spread factor. We monitored the time interval between transmitted packets in several nodes using the Wireshark analyzer program. The article may interest students and researchers involved in the queueing theory and computer network modeling. Using the formulas and tables that were introduced in this article, it will be possible to create a simulation model closer to a real computer network.
