At present, the water supply system in the town of Dudinka (Krasnoyarsk Region, Russia) is being upgraded. In its turn, design of industrial projects stipulates development of an environmental protection action list. This study is aimed at forecasting environmental changes in the course of construction and operation of the water supply system. Results of the previous engineering and environmental surveys were used as input data for the forecast. Technogenic impacts of the project on the atmosphere, surface and ground waters, soil, geological environment, vegetation and animal life, as well as waste disposal, have been analyzed. It has been determined that technogenic impacts are insignificantly intense, they have small spacial boundaries, and during the construction stage such impacts are limited in time. The performed forecast of environmental state changes makes it possible to develop recommendations for elimination and mitigation of negative technogenic effects that could emerge as a result of the water supply system upgrade project implementation. It is noted that the key positive outcomes of the project are better drinking water quality and higher reliability of the municipal water supply system.
