Environmental issues have gained importance across national borders. Climate change mitigation is one of the major global purposes. To achieve the goal it is necessary to solve a number of issues. The key one is to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emissions while keeping high growth rates of living standard, industry and economy. Some countries develop such technologies to decrease greenhouse gases emissions, in particular, carbon capture and storage technologies (CCS technologies).
Meanwhile, the development of CCS technologies has advantages and disadvantages both for global economy and the economy of the Russian Federation. The potential of CCS technologies development in the Russian Federation is also caused by the level of public environmental awareness of CCS projects deployment.
Currently global community attitude to the CCS technologies development is controversial. Thus, the study of public environmental awareness and improving public perception of CCS technologies development is an extremely essential issue.
The paper reviews the level of public awareness concerning CCS technologies across the world. It provides the comparison of public awareness in different countries. The recommendations for raising Russian public awareness of CCS technologies are made.
