In an ecosystem, vegetal organisms have a very important role, constituting the level where the most intense and complex matter and energy exchanges are realized and the synthesis and decomposition processes of the organic matter occur, in close correlation with the abiotic environmental factors. The present study aims to describe certain practical methods of study for the vegetation (of a Subcarpathian area, Vulcana-Bai Commune), which has as structural and functional subunits the phytocenoses specific of a Subcarpathian depression. In the outdoor applications, we have been able to observe the structure of the vegetal layer both vertically and horizontally, by employing the phytogeographic sheet and the vegetation pyramid (through which it was possible to establish the abundance, dominance by species and dominance by stratum), in order to appreciate the architectural model, but also in order to highlight the vegetation as a factor of stability in the development of the present modelling processes.
