The paper analyzes the existing methods and tools for removing oil or petroleum products from the water surface as a result of the oil and petroleum product pipeline rupture. The main groups of methods with indication of their main disadvantages are presented. On the basis of the data obtained, the main direction of the combination of oil spill response methods is established in order to reduce the time of measures and improve the quality of water treatment. A set of activities aimed at minimizing the occurrence and development of additional risks in case of an oil spill or pipeline rupture was scheduled. A new model of the combined device is proposed. This device includes different modules for removing most of petroleum hydrocarbons, applying sorption materials on residual thin oleophilic films and further sorbent removal with spent solute. It also includes a control module that allows adjusting the intensity of rotation of the intake and the amount of sorbent supplied. The proposed version of the combined device will eliminate the need to use additional operations to collect the spent sorbent with solute and auxiliary equipment. This technology, in turn, can significantly reduce time to complete a full cycle of tasks, mitigate the negative impact of oil and petroleum products on the environment, and prevent from ecological disturbance of the territories where transportation enterprises operate in accordance with the lease agreements.
