This paper presents a cross-sectional analysis of the noise inside the engine room of a commercial ship that navigates a section of the Romanian Danube segment. The noises of river ships are heard inside the ship by the crew as well as by the passengers, but also on the outside of the ship by the aquatic and riverside fauna. Determinations took place on a 6-bar pusher ship for 3 days, on the Danube, between 17 and 19 February 2018, on the route Braila (170 km) - Calarasi (km 365). On average, were made about 100 km / day in difficult weather conditions. The noise was measured with BlueSolo 01dB sonometers. These were placed inside the engine room; the determinations lasted 10 minutes at 1-hour intervals, in several cases: running the ship and mooring maneuver. The dBFA 32 software calculated Leq [dB(A)] for frequencies 16; 31.5; 63; 125; 250; 500; 1000; 2000; 4000; 8000 and 16000Hz at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 minutes and presented them as sonograms. It appears that in all cases these averages are lower than the maximum value of 110 dB(A) given by MSC.337(91) Resolution, adopted on 30.11.2012 framed by the Code on Noise Levels on Ships; so, the noise has an acceptable level, but according to the regulations of Directive 2003/10/EC, it exceeds the Exposure limit values.
