Safety planning is an important part of the mechanism that helps overcome extraordinary events or crisis situations. A safety plan is a general planning document such as a crisis plan, emergency plan, flood plan, etc. that focuses on the safety of an area. The structures of individual safety plans are defined in various legal and methodological regulations in the Czech Republic. The content may include safety plans aimed at either preventing or responding to emergencies. Some safety plans have combined content and contain both prevention and response measures. An extraordinary event in the Czech legal system is defined as the harmful effect of forces and phenomena caused by either human activity (anthropogenic) or natural influences (naturogenic). If an extraordinary event cannot be handled using common means, a crisis may be reported, resulting in a crisis situation. An analysis of the available safety plans in the Czech Republic showed that the characteristics of safety plans consisted of approximately 40 types of documents. These documents, however, showed several differences and also contained duplicates, a situation created by the different approaches of individual ministries. This paper presents the current concept of safety plans in the Czech Republic.
