In order to fight for a clean environment, different types of action that can be helpful in this situation must be taken. The environment should be taken care of by the governments of individual countries, enterprises and various organizations, but also by ordinary people. The last group is particularly important because people transfer their behavior to their family, children, work, etc. But to know what to do, how to behave to help the environment, people must have an ecological awareness of their actions and life. Such an ecological awareness should be learnt by people from an early age, in order to learn to live eco, to acquire eco-habits. That is why ecological education of children and young people is so important. The slogan "think globally - act locally" takes on great importance in this case. Young people believe that their attitudes and actions can do a lot for the world and the mother nature. The main purpose of the paper is to present how environmental education of children and youth in Poland looks like and what are its effects according to teachers. In the article the main actions that should encourage children and youth people to care for the natural environment are also presented.
