Concrete slurry waste (CSW) from the production of prestressed poles production in original and Fe-modified form (CSWFe) was studied as potential adsorbent of environmentally risk cations (Cd2+, Pb2+) and oxyanions (AsO43- and CrO42-) from contaminated waters. Structural, surface and chemical properties of adsorbents were characterized by Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Specific surface area (SBET) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Adsorption experiments ran in a batch manner at laboratory temperature (20°C) with the model solutions of toxic ions. The modification of CSW with FeII increased its adsorption selectivity to anions about 20% at a lower sorbent consumption. The cations (Pb2+ and Cd2+) were adsorbed quantitatively (?100%) on CSW at the sorbent consumption of 10 ? 120 g per 1 g of contaminant. The adsorption of AsO43- and CrO42- on CSWFe reached ? 95% for AsO43-and 40-60% for CrO42-, at the sorbent consumption of 80 ? 200 g per 1 g of contaminant.
