The National Geo-Information Center (NGIC) is a newly established research infrastructure which is part of the National road map for scientific infrastructure (2017-2023) of Bulgaria. Its primary strategic objective is to improve the coordination and integration of the efforts of the existing scientific infrastructure networks to integrate the primary Earth observation data into a single complex geo-information center, and to support their joint analysis for the assessment, forecasting and prevention of natural and anthropogenic risks and disasters.
Products of the National Geo-Information Center will serve a wide range of users - governmental structures, local authorities, businesses and the public, to address important national and international tasks for natural resources, ecology, climate change, prediction and prevention of natural risks. Providing reliable data and products derived from monitoring networks and observatories distributed over the whole territory of the country will be a key factor for planning and disaster management activities of the responsible national and local authorities. Information about earthquakes, landslides, coastal threats, climate, air quality, extreme meteorological conditions and many others will be organized in a web based system having federated organizational model. Its conceptual model is based on a system architecture that uses both service and microservice concepts and may be altered according to the specifics of the organization environment. |
