Accuracy requirements in hydrographic surveys inspire drive to seek improvement in measurement devices and systems used to, amongst others, determine coordinates of the position of sounding vessel and ideally sea bed reflection points of acoustic wave.
Limitation to requirements included in international rules, especially included within IHO S-44, does not fulfil expectations of principals. It is however possible to execute using modern measurement (geodesy) devices and systems. Measurements and soundings historically relying on navigational positioning systems can be carried out using geodetic devices, especially those of radio-navigational type (satellites). Those devices allow determination of positioning coordinates in real time and to accuracy accepted by geodesy professionals. This article presents results of hydrographic surveys carried out in restricted area, limited by coastal zone, buildings, vessels and port infrastructure. Measurements have been obtained onboard hydrographic sounding vessel during MBES (MultiBeam EchoSounder) and SSS (Side Scan Sonar) surveys. Both of them are realised in dynamic surveys using positioning systems. Limitations of those hydrographic surveys have been analysed and presented. |
