Considering the substantial increase in the number of buildings needed in the continuous development of human activities, no matter their destination (civil, industrial, social, cultural, hydrotechnical, communication etc.) and their environmental impact, it is required to increase attention to the activity of land and building monitoring, according to present laws.
There is often needed a quick and precise answer concerning the monitored objective (land or building) behavior, which may help preventing any negative effects on monitored objective, the surrounding area and the environment. Depending on the potential negative impacts on the environment, it can be established, if necessary making supplementary geodetic observations for verifying the stability of the monitored objective. Furthermore, there is needed a full consideration and analysis of all factors that lead to displacement and deformation phenomena of the Earth?s crust, land and buildings. These factors may be due to geological and mining conditions, environmental conditions (for instance groundwater action, temperature gradient, wind action), seismic activity, human activity etc. Some factors may enhance or weaken the influence of other relevant factors. Therefore, determining the relationships between a certain factor and the behavior parameters is difficult and often these factors should be examined in a complex manner in different combinations. This brings the land and building monitoring into an interdisciplinary field, where primer information concerning the monitored objective evolution must be considered in order to holistically analyse possible environmental impacts as considering air, water or soil degradation. Newer developments has actually since a while demonstrated the need to take into account environmental aspects when carrying out holistic geodetic studies especially when trying to clarify effects of global environmental pollution, such as global warming or changing sea-levels. |
