Currently in our country, dry salt extraction of salt deposits is achieved by the small chambers method. The projected size of the assembly formed out of the side of a pillar and the adjoining chamber is of 30m and remains constant over the entire depth assigned for the exploitation, but the portion of the side of the pillar changes (which is constantly increasing along with the depth) and a of the side of the chamber (increasing with the decrease of the depth). The pillars and rooms have a height of between 7m and 10m.
Keeping an overall stability is conditioned by the achievement of the sizes projected in the exploitation process, the compliance with the orientation throughout the working horizon in relation to its design value and by the fulfillment of the condition of the correspondent coaxial vertical pillars throughout the depth of mining.
The data collection needed to verify compliance with the aforementioned conditions is hampered by underground working conditions and reduced visibility.
This paper proposes a method of conducting the observations necessary to allow the collection of data, the processing of which can be carried to achieve the three-dimensional representation of the excavated space; and also (achieve) the proof for the satisfactory stability conditions established by the draft for harnessing said salt deposit.
