When documenting of existing bridges, object geometry knowledge is the highest importance. Complex construction documentation usually has limited spatial representation of the object, based on a limited number of basic forms of modeling, represented by edges, corners, planes and volume elements of the real object, and depending on the purpose, the model results must match within a certain accuracy with real object.
Rehabilitation of bridges also involves the realization of detailed plans in situations where they no longer exist, or the existing ones does not match the accuracy request. In this case the most efficient methods are topographical, involving the use of various tools, from classic and electronic rules, total stations, GNSS technology and laser scanning. Advancing computing technologies now enables 3D modeling and designing of structures. In order to have a good 3D model, obtained with laser scanning technologies, we need to elaborate a methodology used for terrestrial laser scanning in the case of bridge modeling. The article will present the main operations of the stages of terrestrial laser scanning and the final products of scanning process that are obtained by post-processing information provided by ?clouds of points?, using appropriate software components. |
