The main objective of the article was to assess the impact of the selected interpolation algorithm on the accuracy of parameter value estimation. The following interpolation methods were used: inverse distance to a power (ID), linear kriging (LK), ordinary kriging (OK), and more advanced geostatistical methods including Lognormal Kriging (LG) and Turning Bands Simulation (TBS). The contents of copper and lead were determined for the economic series of a part of the LGCD (the Lubin-G?og?w Copper District, Poland). The LGCD is a world-class copper-silver stratabound ore deposit located in the SW Poland, in the area of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline. The choice of elements was based on the following criteria: the most (Pb) and least (Cu) variable elements found in copper deposits were selected in order to determine the role played by the variability of the analyzed parameter when estimating its value. The use of geostatistical methods has not significantly improved the reliability of interpolation. In addition, estimates using the Turning Bands Simulation method proved to be the least reliable. It has also been shown that interpolation errors depend mainly on the variability of the analyzed parameter and the density of the sampling network, while the selection of the interpolation method is of secondary importance.
