Worldwide, political framework reaffirmed sustainable development as a central element of the international agenda and give a new impetus to the practical application of the global measures to combat the negative effects of human actions and for the environmental protection. Since mid 2010, petrol consumption in the transport sector has increased at a higher rate than in other sectors. The transport sector generates 35% of the total CO2 emissions. In this context, strategies have been adopted to use clean energy, with electromobility being the main directive. In this respect, the present work proposes a simultaneous approach to the two concepts with a particular role in the sustainable development of transport infrastructure, namely electric vehicles charging station and alternative energies. This paper examines the possibility of charging electric vehicles batteries with clean energy using wind resources. An isolated system was designed, dimensioned and simulated in operation for an electric vehicles charging station with wind turbine and as a solution for energy storage, two hypotheses are proposed: batteries and hydrogen technology. The energy system analysed in the case study is able to support with 100% green energy the demand of the electric vehicles charging station. The results were related to the energy, environmental and economic performance achieved. These indicators provide arguments in favor of the system that uses hydrogen technology because although the costs of this system type are extremely high, they provide the highest energy efficiency both in meeting the energy demands for the electric vehicles charging station studied, as well as in capitalizing on the potential of the primary wind energies available in the situation of the studied location.
