In March 2017, the President of the Republic of Poland signed the European Agreement on Main Inland Waterways of International Importance, also known as the AGN convention.
The convention and the Directive 2005/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 on harmonised River Information Services (RIS) on inland waterways in the Community, together with a number of European Commission regulations, establish a coherent legal system to facilitate the coordination of development plans and investments in inland navigation of international importance and also point to technical aspects of its implementation - with the RIS system being one of crucial elements of that implementation. One of the key components of RIS systems is the Electronic Chart Display and Information System for Inland Navigation, known as the Inland ECDIS, which execution requires direct geodetic and hydrographic surveys. The article presents the technical concept of an integrated measurement system based on a small manned hydrographic vessel enabling rapid geographic and hydrographic data acquisition, equipped with two unmanned objects. Additional elements of the system are two data visualization systems (for professional and amateur navigation) as well as a meteorological warning system based on radar imaging. |
