The Sea of Azov is characterized not only by small sizes and depths for oceanic waters, but also by intensive water exchange with river waters and the waters of the Black sea. These features of the reservoir are superimposed by wind activity, which contributes to the formation of wind surges phenomena. Under their influence, the upper layer of bottom sediments is agitated, accompanied by the transition of previously deposited material into the water column. After the wind action is weakened, the reverse flow of resuspended suspended matter into the bottom sediments is observed. The observed perturbations have a great influence on the behavior of various substances. Iron plays an important role in the biogeochemical cycles in the marine ecosystem, so it is an indicator included in the list of priority ingredients determined during environmental monitoring. The paper presents data from field research on changes in the concentration of dissolved iron in the upper and bottom layers of the Sea of Azov water, depending on wind activity. A high content of this metal was observed in some parts of the considered water area, regardless of weather conditions. An increase in the total dissolved iron content in the water of the Sea of Azov was registered at high wind activity. In the water of the Taganrog Bay, the concentration of this element was higher under different weather conditions than in the open part of the Sea of Azov. Also, in any weather, the bottom water layers of the Sea of Azov were characterized by high concentrations of dissolved iron. (Fetotal). Data on changes in content are presented Fetotal the profile of the Don River - the Sea of Azov - Kerch Strait. Two geochemical barriers are observed along the continuum of this section. The first barrier, where there is an avalanche deposition of dissolved total iron, is located at the site of mixing the waters of the Don River with the waters of the Taganrog Bay, and the second, less sharp, when the waters of the Taganrog Bay turn into the waters of the Sea of Azov proper. The amount of dissolved total iron in the water column of the sea during various periods of its dynamic activity.
