Soil erosion is one of the most dangerous environmental problems of rural areas, which is a major environmental threat to the sustainability and productivity of agriculture, but also one of the main threats to sustainability of economic and environmental development. Currently, erosion is understood as one of the forms of degradation and as a complex of various endogenous soil-forming processes. So the assessment of this process is necessary for better environmental policy. The environmental and economic assessments of various problems of geosystems (ecosystems) are relevant and important for planning an effective decision-making policy in the field of nature protection. The typical approach to the economic assessment of the cost of one-site and off-site effects of soil erosion is proposed in this study. It should be noted the high variability of the number of off-site effects of soil erosion. The calculation of each parameter requires the collection of initial data and selection of calculated equation that are suitable in certain conditions. This could complicate the analysis of factors affecting the valuation of soil erosion costs. Also this model could be applied to value on-site and off-site effects of soil erosion separately and to determine whether it is economical to allow soil erosion to occur without conservation or to reduce it. In addition, the proposed methodology could be used for economic calculations of various scenarios of the erosion effects, as well as for a possible assessment of the effectiveness of environmental measures.
