The aim of the study is to construct a priori constraints imposed on the model in the course of solving the inverse seismic problem. The object of the simulation is the structure of the upper part of the Khibiny massif — the largest alkaline massif located on the territory of the Kola Peninsula. The research is based on shallow-depth seismic tomographic modeling, which includes multi-stage work. Petrophysical materials concerning the main classes of rocks of the surface of the Khibiny massif and its framing were previously collected and analyzed. The results of detailed seismic studies by reflected wave method are analyzed. Short hodographs are selected, the length of which does not exceed 2 km. The dispersion statistical analysis of the seismic data was performed. The initial velocity models required for shallow-depth seismic tomographic modeling are calculated. The criterion for stopping the iterative process and the optimal regularization parameter is chosen. The result of the multi-stage research is a detailed velocity model of the upper part of the studied medium up to a depth of 0.10-0.15 km. The obtained elastic characteristics are correlated with the rocks of the Khibiny massif and its frame. The calculated values of the P-wave velocity are used later as boundary conditions imposed on the starting model at the main stage of seismic modeling. They are unchanged in the iterative modeling process. A priori data is a necessary element that reduces the ambiguity and instability of the solution of the inverse seismic tomography problem.
