The article presents the analysis of the flood zones of Nizhnevartovsk by means of geographic information mapping taking into account the peculiarities of natural and climatic conditions. A study of flood zones of the urban landscape has a social, economic and ecological importance. The social effect is due to the recommendations of the placement of industrial and residential facilities in the flood zone. The economic aspect is focused on avoiding the financial costs of flooding. The ecological effect of the research is caused by the need to reduce the possible emergencies of different nature. As the initial information, the data on the elevation of the terrain, especially the relief of urban space, long-term meteorological indicators of precipitation, remote sensing data were used. The use of geographic information systems provides spatial analysis and visualization of data for the implementation of an integrated approach in the study of territorial landscape complexes, as well as for forecasting and sustainable development goals and urban planning.
