The discovery of Bakyrchik gold-sulfide black shale deposit was in 1953. It is situated in Western Kalba metallogenic zone, originated in late Paleozoic age as a separated line between palaeocontinents of Kazakhstan and Altai-Mongol. The Bakyrchik deposit has acicular arsenopyrite and arsenical pyrite containing micron-size (2-5 ?m) gold inclusions. It is large gold reserve (280 tons) in black shales of northern east Kazakhstan. The gold is associated with acicular arsenopyrite, lesser extent of pyrite. The sulfide mineralization in the deposit was on three processes, such as sedimentogenic (globular form of sulfides), metamorphogenic (pyrite-arsenopyrite association with finely dispersed gold) and hydrothermal.
The arsenopyrite and pyrite are the main objects for analytical study as gold-bearing sulfide minerals, their different textures, morphology of the crystals and aggregates. The studies of ore samples and minerals were carried out by methods of optical microscope, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence and electron microprobe analysis. The analytical study of sulphide concentrations of arsenopyrite is acicular and pyrite has three varieties - globular, cubic and pentagonal forms from two samples of the black shale formation in the deposit. No gold sulfide inclusions are detected in the samples by optical microscopy and electron microprobe studies.
Due to previous studies of K.R. Plekhova and T.M.Zhautykov, and others, the crystal morphology of sulfide minerals associated with gold enables for using as search criteria for gold in the deposit. Therefore, the morphological features of arsenopyrite and pyrite have a reliable search sign for gold. This method is relevant, because may indicate directly in the field a perspective point in rock specimens for further research by morphological characteristics.
